Wednesday, February 3, 4:00pm-5:00pm (EST) – Virtual Teen Forum: Supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) Teens in STEAM

The Museum will spotlight the accomplishments of young BIPOC STEAM professionals. This event will inspire youth to carve their unique pathways towards a science career. The talk will be moderated by Yulkendy Valdez, a Forbes 30 Under 30 social entrepreneur, storyteller and TEDx speaker. It will feature the following teen & young adult panelists:

  • Jazmyn Fuller, computer science graduate from Queens College, working as an Automation Technician Systems Specialist for the FAA;
  • Thomas Heslop, recent finance and pre-med student at Howard University, with a passion for healthcare technology and business;
  • Danielle Boyer, entrepreneur and founder of the nonprofit organization The STEAM Connection, and recipient of such accolades as L’Oreal Woman of Worth and one of PEOPLE’s Girls Changing the World;
  • William Belfor, applied mathematics and computer science student at Brown University, and founder of Learning From Scratch, a non-profit dedicated to teaching elementary school students STEM to prepare for the technologically driven future ahead.

Saturday, March 6, 1:00 to 3:00 PM – Virtual Girls In Science & Engineering Day (GSED)

The program will include STEM organizations, STEM professionals, and youth talking about their STEM projects. Participating youth will learn, watch, discuss and conduct science experiments using materials from around their homes.
